Criterion Collection to bring Zwigoff, Clowes’ Ghost World to Blu-ray in 2011?

If you read my recent review of The Criterion Collection release of Terry Zwigoff‘s Crumb on Blu-ray, you’re no doubt aware of my passion for comic books. And it just so happens that one of my all-time favourite comics is Daniel Clowes‘ brilliant Ghost World, adapted into a film by Zwigoff in 2001. Well, the news of the day, as far as I’m concerned is that we might just be seeing the film starring Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson on Criterion Blu sometime next year, if Zwigoff has anything to say about it.

The Criterion Cast got the scoop on the potential release during Zwigoff’s recent signing appearance in Hollywood to promote Crumb and his first film, Louie Bluie joining the Criterion family. During a question and answer period, Zwigoff was asked directly about the potential for more of his films being released by the studio. From Criterion Cast:

I was talking to them about doing Ghost World next year, maybe… I think they’d be agreeable to it. I just, you know, I put a lot of work into these [Crumb & Louie Bluie], and got so sick of doing commentaries and digging through all the footage, I said just give me some time, and maybe in a year or so, or six months or something, I’d try to do it….
