Bill Hunt has ruined Christmas for me

Damn it, Bill! You got me all fired up, expecting to see a whole horde of these awesome movies on Blu-ray before the end of the year.

Bill Hunt over at our favourite home video site, The Digital Bits has posted an update to his Rumour Mill release notes, stating that a lot the titles reported as candidates for 2009 release have now been pushed back to 2010. No, Bill! Say it ain’t so! I had my heart set on seeing some high-def Raiders of the Lost Ark and Alien this year! You’ve just ruined Christmas for all the boy’s and girls!

Here’s what he has to say:

The following titles have been moved into 2010 (or later, or were already tentatively set for 2010)…

To Live and Die in L.A. (MGM – Feb), Alien Quadrilogy, more Rogers & Hammerstein musicals (Fox – 2010), The Indiana Jones Trilogy, Chinatown, Flashdance (Paramount – TBA 2010), Ben-Hur, King Kong, Goonies (Warner Bros. – TBD – note that Goonies sees its 25th anniversary in 2010), Toy Story 1 & 2, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, Destino, Beauty and the Beast (Disney – TBA 2010), Back to the Future Trilogy (Universal – strongly rumored, as 2010 marks the original film’s 25th anniversary)

As always, all of the above information is to be considered unofficial and subject to change until the studios in question make official announcements.

  1. I’ve heard that Monsters Inc. is coming out in November around the time that Pete Docter’s other film, Up, does.

    I hope!

  2. [...] Outside of the date, a price (MSRP $99.98 – Amazon $69.99) and this package art, the studios haven’t provided a hint of what we can expect in the box. That’s all we know at this point. But, hey, that’s pretty great. At least I feel confident that I’ll be getting some amazing, classic genre film on Blu before the holidays this year. I was beginning to worry that I’d have nothing to watch in December after Bill Hunt’s report of pushed-back titles, a few days ago. [...]
