Tron: Legacy and Tron: The Original Classic Blu-ray discs Available for Pre-order

All right! It looks like Tron Blu-ray news is beginning to come in all fast and furious-like, with pre-orders for several disc configurations of Legacy and the original flavour showing up on Amazon along with some package art, special feature listings, a nifty “Limited Edition Identity-Disc” package and a possible April release date. With this much on the table, there’s little doubt that we’re on the cusp of seeing an official announcement from Disney. …Continued…

Top 10 New Blu-ray releases for the Week of February 1

Holy crap! I had no idea today was such a huge, overwhelming release day. I mean, there aren’t a ton of brand new titles hitting shops (most are older, catalogue films) but they’re hitting in vast numbers. And a lot of them are outstanding! In honour of this cornucopia of goodness, I’ve expanded the list to an unheard of ten recommended titles this week, transforming it into … wait for it … A TOP 10 LIST!!! …Continued…

Disney’s Alice in Wonderland: 60th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Disc Review

Disney has had great success lately, bringing their vast catalogue of animated films to Blu-ray. Watching Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio on Blu has been nothing short of a revelation. This week their trippy 1951 adaptation of Lewis Caroll‘s Alice in Wonderland is available for the first time in high-def and, like its fellow films, it’s a stunner! …Continued…

Sneak Peek at Tron: Legacy and original Tron on Blu-ray

I went to see Tron: Legacy with my nephew on my birthday last month and, I’ve got to tell you, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the film. It looks and sounds phenomenal! What an aesthetic triumph! Since then I’ve been foaming at the mouth, desperate to get my hands on any news regarding its release on Blu-ray. Well, Collider looks to have struck gold. …Continued…

The Incredibles heading to Blu-ray in April

Pixar‘s The Incredibles will make its Blu-ray debut on April 12th in a 4-disc combo pack with a DVD and digital copy. I have to say, despite the fact that the studio has released a ton of brilliant animated films since (Wall-E, UP!, Toy Story 3, etc.) I still consider Brad Bird‘s playful superhero fable my favourite. Can’t wait to finally see it in 1080p! …Continued…

Disney’s Tangled coming to Blu-ray in 2D and 3D

Disney’s latest (and reportedly final) foray into Princess-dom, Tangled has only been in cinemas a few weeks now and already we’re seeing the Blu-ray up for pre-order on Amazon, this time complete with a full listing of special features and a coupon for $8 off! While none of this information has been confirmed by the studio as yet, you shouldn’t let that stop you from taking advantage of the digital coupon which brings the price of the 4-Disc Combo Pack down to $21.99! More information on this title as it’s revealed. …Continued…

All right, time is running out to get these Blu-ray gift guide recommendations posted so let’s get back to it! I’ll keep the commentary to a minimum here, in order to hasten the process. …Continued…

Fantasia – Fantasia 2000 Blu-ray Disc Review

Fantasia is out on Blu-ray and I don’t know what to rave about first – the beautiful, fully restored animation or the robust, full DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround tracks! …Continued…

Top 5 New Blu-ray releases for the Week of November 30

My head is still buzzing from the Black Friday/Cyber Monday madness! I spent waaaay too much money on Blu-ray discs over the last week (like I really needed more.) I should learn to exert a modicum of self control with these things. Anyway, I think you’ll find this weeks new releases to be a somewhat calm return to normalcy, with a bunch of underwhelming new titles and some surprising catalogue ones. But all in all, nowhere near as crazy as the last month or so of new releases. Dig in! …Continued…

Miyazaki’s Nausicaä US Blu-ray details and package art

I was seriously only a few days away from placing my order for the Japanese release of Miyazaki‘s Nausicaä on Blu-ray, sick and tired of waiting to hear any news whatsoever about a domestic edition. And just as I’m about to finally pull the trigger, wouldn’t you know it, this news hits. So, it looks like Disney is finally getting their act together and delivering the goods – Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind will hit shops on March 8th with cover art and a feature set that’s in line with the Ponyo Blu-ray of this past year. …Continued…
