Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season One Blu-ray box announced and detailed

Well, I don’t think there’s been an official announcement yet, per se, but Paramount and CBS have confirmed the release date and details of the first Star Trek: The Next Generation Blu-ray boxed set. If you’re like me, the news and interviews surrounding the release of the Next Level preview disc back in January led you to believe that we wouldn’t get our grubby hands on this complete 6-disc, 26-episode set until much later in the year. So, this July 24th release date comes as something of a surprise. An awesome surprise but a mid-summer attack on my wallet that I wasn’t anticipating. I’d like to start saving my pennies but the studio has yet to offer up a suggested price for this bad boy. Knowing the going rate for these sets, however, I’d bet we’re looking at around about the $100 range. That’s a lot of pennies. I hope I’m wrong…

  1. Kind of disappointed that there are no commentaries with some of the writers, directors, or actors. Even a pieced together track from old interviews or something. I’d love to hear Ron Moore’s thoughts on his episodes in later seasons.
