[VIDEO] Restoring the The African Queen for Blu-ray

The African Queen Blu-rayThis is an extraodinary little 8-minute documentary on the restoration of The African Queen, a title which will finally be released on DVD and Blu-ray next Tuesday, the 23rd. Movieweb was lucky to get a hold of it, as it seems to be a featurette prepared for, but ultimately cut from the Blu-ray release of the film (the sole extra on the disc is the ‘Embracing Chaos‘ making-of doc.) I’m not sure why it was cut but I have to say, I think it was a bad move. These brief glimpses into the world of film restoration are fascinating and critical to the home video consumers appreciation of film and film history. And it’s the kind of thing I like to watch over and over again. It’s a sickness, I know…
