Casablanca: 70th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Disc Review

This is a tough call. Yes, every film fan should own a copy of Casablanca. It’s really that good. But, the thing is, Warner already made the film available on Blu-ray a number of years ago in a pretty decent boxed set and single-disc edition, sporting a great looking transfer. So, the questions is, really, if you already own the film on Blu is this boxed set worth the upgrade? …continued…

Casablanca: 70th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray receives new 4K transfer

I’m not sure why it was cut but I have to say, I think it was a bad move. These brief glimpses into the world of film restoration are fascinating and critical to the home video consumers appreciation of film and film history. And it’s the kind of thing I like to watch over and over again. It’s a sickness, I know… …Continued…

The African Queen comes to Blu-ray in March

It seems like we’ve been waiting an eternity for John Huston’s The African Queen to be available on disc – first DVD and now Blu-ray. In fact, it’s the only film on AFI’s original Top 100 Films list to remain unavailable on DVD to this day. I’m excited to tell you that the wait for The African Queen is finally over! Paramount will be releasing a newly restored edition of the film to home video on March 23rd, in both single disc and multi-disc collector’s editions. …Continued…
