I just watched the restoration feature on the Godfather Blu-ray. Man, I love this stuff. Robert A. Harris is my hero. This guy goes above and beyond the call of duty to bring films back from the dead. If you’re not reading his regular column Yellow Layer Failure over at the best home video site on the planet, The Digital Bits, you might as well give up your high-def gear and go back to the land of 480i. And watching him in action on the Godfather disc, after reading about his efforts to restore films for so many years was a satisfying experience. And his work speaks for itself. The Godfather films look magnificent.
And A&E‘s Pride and Prejudice, while not a project of Mr. Harris, looks to be in good qualified hands, if this little chunk of the Blu-ray’s restoration doc is any indication. I’ve read good things about the quality of this transfer. Seeing as how I’ll probably never see the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies edition of the film that I’ve been longing for, I might have to break down and pick this one up soon.
Oh, I bet your mum would really like this one…
I hope that Pride & Prejudice is
not too long in coming. Can’t wait.
