First Look at Alien Quadrilogy Blu-ray Box

This image recently appeared in a promotional flyer tucked inside the latest James Bond Blu-ray box sets in France.

We’ve known for quite a while that the Alien Quadrilogy Blu-ray box was in the cards but this flyer, stating that the set is “Coming Soon” is the first solid proof that we might see it on store shelves before the end of the year. Early reports have confirmed that it will replicate all of the special features of the previously issued DVD collection, while adding some “new and expanded extra content.”

I’m expecting to see a vast improvement in audio/video quality and secretly (well, not so secretly now) praying for a David Fincher redux of Alien 3 - a director’s cut, director’s edition, hell, even a commentary from the man would be welcome! Fox has covered just about every other aspect of the Alien franchise in past supplementary materials. What “new content” could possibly be left but a boatload of Fincher?

I wanted to cap off the post with a Quadrilogy trailer, to remind you of the goodness that is Alien but could only find this German ad on short notice. Prepare to experience “Eine Neue Dimension Des Terrors!”

  1. How about getting Cameron to put the Burke Death scene onto the Disc!? He shot it, Photos exist of the scene… so why not include it?!

  3. I do not like the cover design for the blue ray set, the DVD Alien Quadrilogy design is so much better, so maybe the region 1 blue ray will have a different design. I agree with ‘Fraught’, the Burke scene WAS filmed!!! That’s the only scene I think was missing, “Aliens” too me suffers from a great deal of video ‘dust’ of the whole series, so they should try to clean up this one. For “Alien” they should include ALL deleted scene. A very long time ago I bought a VHS (Japanese Bootleg but in English) that included ALL deleted scenes from the laserdisk. “Alien 3″ and “Alien Resurrection” to me were the most completed sets as far as ALL deleted scenes compiled. I cried when I saw the Betty landing on Earth.. In Paris, because it’s a much better closure to that chapter than having Ripley and Call just looking at Earth from a far.. or maybe it’s not a closure.. maybe it is a Pandora’s Box. There has been rumors now of an “Alien” Preguel.. but with Ripley half human/alien this is the BEST time in the series to go back to the roots as a sequel NOT a prequel. To me Prequels are a writer’s way of failing to determined a foundation for story telling.
