May Blu-ray Catalogue titles from Paramount: Top Gun, The Firm, Le Mans, Beverly Hills Cop

Wow. I had gotten used to Paramount releasing only one, maybe two or three Blu-ray discs a month but May is shaping up to be a wallet-killer from the studio! In addition to the four Western Blu-ray titles we told you about earlier, Paramount will also be unleashing high-def versions of four top films from their catalogue next month: the 25th Anniversary release of Tony Scott‘s Top Gun, The Firm, Le Mans and the always-entertaining Beverly Hills Cop. Perhaps this is a sign of better things to come – the end of the single-Blu-ray-release-a-month era. 1990 Captain America coming to Blu-ray in New Director’s Cut

I recall being pretty enthusiastic about Albert Pyun‘s Captain America film way back in 1990, produced hot on the heels of Warner‘s hit Batman and riding a wave of superhero-film excitement. Robocop Trilogy Blu-ray Disc Review

Robocop can be many different things to many people – there are those, like me, who worship the original Paul Verhoeven movie as a flat-out brilliant example of filmmaking at its best, there are those who enjoy the entire series as a kitschy remnant of late 80s/early 90s action films and there are those who are just unabashed fans of the character. This new Robocop Trilogy boxed set is a mixed bag at best and clearly not aimed at my demographic. But for those fans clamoring to see their favourite tin-man-with-a-badge take down the bad guys in all three of his cinematic adventures, this set might just do the trick. …Continued…
