8-Disc The Superman Motion Picture Anthology Blu-ray box set for June
This is fantastic and godawful news all in one deft blow! Warner Home Video has announced that, at long last, they will do their best to replicate the massive 14-DVD Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology boxed set they released back in 2006, on a brand new, gussied up, 8-Disc Blu-ray set. 1990 Captain America coming to Blu-ray in New Director’s Cut
I recall being pretty enthusiastic about Albert Pyun‘s Captain America film way back in 1990, produced hot on the heels of Warner‘s hit Batman and riding a wave of superhero-film excitement. I was enthusiastic, that is, until I sat through a screening of it. Urgh. What a low-budget turd. This is a film so bad that no creative editing, no CGI enhancements could possibly improve it. But that’s not what Pyun thinks. According to io9, the director is preparing a brand new Director’s Cut of the film, based on “my own 35 mm CA work picture and temp mix [that] I did before I left [the] picture.” And lucky for us, this new cut of the film will be on Blu-ray in May, just in time to take advantage of Marvel‘s upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger flik due in theatres this summer. …Continued…
Toy Story 3 Blu-ray Disc Review
Somehow, I always manage to forget how much I love the Toy Story films. Perhaps it’s just a matter of my age or the passage of time between the original films’ release and the current, modern me. As such, I found that when this most recent sequel was released to theatres I was intrigued but didn’t feel compelled to set aside valuable time to experience it in all its cinematic grandeur. ARGH!! It’s another one of those killer, five-million-amazing-new Blu-ray-disc release weeks! Having so many great new titles out all at the same time makes it damn near impossible to choose a best and a second best release of the week. Unlike last week, where I felt the Alien Anthology was clearly the must-own newly released title, I wouldn’t blame you if you grabbed up any one of the discs listed below.
