It was way back in October of last year that we broke the news that Severin was planning a Blu-ray release of the classic fright-film, Horror Express. And now, several months later, we’ve finally got the disc details and package art to share with you. I’m super excited about this bad boy, as it’s the only Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing film to show any signs of being on Blu in the near future. It might not be one of the their coveted Hammer films but at this point I’ll take what I can get. And, seeing as how Horror Express will be a Severin release, there’s a guarantee that this will be something special. The disc will be on store shelves on September 27th. …Continued…

Severin Films have slyly announced, via this YouTube trailer release, that they will be bringing the rare Peter Cushing and Cristopher Lee travelogue of terror, Horror Express to Blu-ray in the new year. No other details are provided as yet, beyond the fact that we can, “Expect new hi-def transfers to present these terrifying gems as you’ve never seen them before. Details on our astounding roster of special features to follow.” Seeing as how the company has just entered into a distribution agreement with MPI, we can expect to see more films from the Severin catalogue hitting Blu in the near future! …Continued…
Yeah, I don’t know a thing about this film outside of the fact that it’s produced by Eli Roth and that he maintains that the home video edition is somehow haunted. I’m not making that up. Apparently, according to reports he made via his Twitter feed, a host of people quit while working on the disc because “demons attempted contact”. Uhhhh, yeah. Okay, sure. I guess you do what you have to to sell your product. I haven’t seen Daughters of Darkness for years but remember being glued to the screen any time the vampy Andrea Rau was in a scene. Aside from that, I recall there being a lot of skin and adult nastiness in the film. All good things in vampire cinema, to be sure! Here’s hoping all that flesh turns up in a fresh new high-def transfer from Blue Underground in February (delayed from the previously announced December date.) …Continued…
