Hammer Films’ Twins of Evil coming to Blu-ray

The Hammer Films hits just keep on coming to Blu-ray, this time all the way to our North American shores. Synapse Films plans to follow up their domestic release of Hammer’s Vampire Circus with the grand finale of the studio’s Karnstein Trilogy of films, Twins of Evil, hitting store shelves in July. Next up for the US label’s Hammer Horror Collection are the classics Countess Dracula and Hands of the Ripper, hopefully coming before the end of the year. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Plague of the Zombies/The Reptile Blu-ray promo

We here in North America haven’t seen many classic Hammer films make the transition to Blu-ray yet but the famous studio, now reborn, has partnered with Studio Canal for a massive restoration and release program in the UK. The next two titles in the series are Plague of the Zombies and The Reptile, a couple of B-films that played in double features back in the day with their higher-profile siblings, Dracula, Prince of Darkness and Rasputin, the Mad Monk, respectively. …Continued…

Synapse Films to bring Hammer’s Vampire Circus to Blu-ray

Now that’s more like it! You might have read my rant about the studios treating classic Hammer and Universal horror films as second class citizens. If not, just know that it’s a serious point of contention between me and the majors. We’re barely on speaking terms these days. Well, thank the good lord for Synapse Films who have taken it upon themselves to rescue and distribute the Hammer spectacular Vampire Circus. Wish List: Columbia Pictures' Robin Hood Collection DVDs

It seems I rarely get an opportunity to go out to the movies any more. I don’t suspect I’ll get a chance to see the new Ridley Scott Robin Hood film until it hits home video. Luckily, I’ve had four new DVD releases from Columbia Pictures Robin Hood collection to keep me company lately. Ranging from 1948 to 1960, these films are classics and a whole lot of fun to watch.
