Warner Home Video releases first images from DC Showcase animation short "The Spectre"

Hot damn! This is what I like to wake up to – the first official images from Warner and DC Comics’ new animated short, The Spectre! While the pics and the accompanying info in the press release don’t contain much new information, it is nice to finally sneak a peak at the short. I’m really digging the character designs, from what little we can see here, in the three images provided and I have high hopes for the Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) script. The Spectre will be distributed February 23 by Warner Home Video as part of the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Blu-ray/DVD. Here’s what Warner Home Video has to say about the short film: …Continued…

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies comes to Blu-ray September 29 (Updated with Package Art)

I love waking up to a good press release!

Warner Home Entertainment has forwarded details of their upcoming Superman/Batman: Public Enemies film, coming to Blu-ray and DVD on September 29. Too bad they left out the package art. Weird. They had it plastered all over the Warner press event a couple of weeks ago. Maybe that was just a temporary tease. Dunno.

I’ll post it up here when they get their act together.

Green Lantern: First Flight Blu-ray – Executive Producer Bruce Timm Interview

Warner Home Video has forwarded another Green Lantern related interview on to yours truly. This one’s a biggee. It’s with the “man” himself. The creator of the DC Animated Universe as we know it. The man responsible for the Batman and Superman animated series, Justice League and all Warner’s direct to video superhero extravaganzas:

More Interviews for upcoming Green Lantern Animated Blu-ray: Juliet Landau and Alan Burnett

Warner Home Video has sent over another couple of interviews to promote their upcoming direct-to-video release, Green Lantern: First Flight (on Blu-ray July 28) I wouldn’t normally go in for the idea of just posting promo material outside of release news but I actually feel quite strongly about these animated DC Comics films. I think everyone involved is pushing themselves and their budgets to the limit to bring us the most compelling animated representations of DCs vast library of characters and stories. The Burnett interview in particular is of interest to comics fans and anyone curious about the process of adapting other mediums to the big (or small) screen.

Wonder Woman Blu-ray Disc Review

Pretty good. Exactly what I was expecting. Not as focussed, structurally sound or iconic as i’d hoped but completely serviceable. To be fair, nearly every single criticism I can throw at producer Bruce Timm, director Lauren Montgomery and crew’s animated Wonder Woman film can be explained away by it’s two most villainous foes – budget and running time. …Continued…
