Batman: Under the Red Hood Blu-ray Disc Review

Man, I love these DC Comics animated films! As much as I’m dying to see Warner and DC branch out and tackle more obscure characters and story-lines from their vast universe of super-hero properties, Batman: Under the Red Hood is a welcome addition to a growing library of wonderful animated adventures based on the dark, gritty world of the caped crusader. And a perfect compliment to the live-action Christopher Nolan films of the last number of years! …Continued…

Animated Batman: Under the Red Hood Blu-ray Details, Trailer

I’ve been waiting for more news regarding the next DC Universe animated offering from Warner and finally, here it is! A press release outlining the details of Batman: Under the Red Hood just hit my inbox and I’ve got to tell you, I’m excited as hell about this film. These animated offerings from Bruce Timm and his crack team of 80-minute storytellers just keep getting better and better. And I’m sure this one will follow the pattern of providing the tightest superhero stories with the tightest animation this side of anime. …Continued…

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Blu-ray Disc Review

You know I’ve got a soft spot for these DC Comics animated adaptations. I’ve given fairly positive reviews to the two previous efforts – Wonder Woman and Green Lantern: First Flight. So you’re probably expecting more of the same from my review of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies on Blu-ray disc. And you’d be right! …Continued…

Blu-ray Picks for the Week of September 29 – The Wizard of Oz

What a huge release week filled with amazing titles! Sadly, I haven’t gotten my hands on a single Blu-ray disc yet so I can’t out-and-out recommend any of them from personal experience. But if I had to put my money on any one of these titles being a spectacular and worthwhile purchase, I’d have to bet on The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Blu-ray Clip – Metallo Revealed!

What can I say? Another DC Comics animated adaptation about to hit Blu-ray and I’m as excited as can be. Especially after watching this clip that Warner just sent over. I admit to not reading the comic (not a big fan of Ed McGuinness’ chunky style of drawing people) but the story looks to be a hell of a lot of fun. This is what Warner has to say about Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, which hits the shops in a couple of weeks (September 29th to be exact): …Continued…

Green Lantern: First Flight Blu-ray Disc Review

I couldn’t help but think of Law and Order: SVU while watching Green Lantern: First Flight. And not just because the lead character is voiced by Chris Meloni, one of the cops on the hit NBC show. But because the take on the character and the group he belongs to is such that we’re meant to perceive them as being an intergalactic police force, patrolling the cosmos and protecting life from galaxy to galaxy. Cool concept. And it works. …Continued…

Green Lantern: First Flight Blu-ray – Executive Producer Bruce Timm Interview

Warner Home Video has forwarded another Green Lantern related interview on to yours truly. This one’s a biggee. It’s with the “man” himself. The creator of the DC Animated Universe as we know it. The man responsible for the Batman and Superman animated series, Justice League and all Warner’s direct to video superhero extravaganzas:

BRUCE TIMM! …Continued…

Upcoming Animated DC Universe Blu-ray: 'Green Lantern: First Flight' Trailer and Interview, 'Superman/Batman: Public Enemies' Trailer

I can’t hide my dirty secret any longer – I’m a comic book nerd. I love seeing my old-favourite DC Comics heroes on the big screen. I also love animation. Warner’s DTV plan to hit us with an original superhero film a couple of times a year is kind of blowing my mind! It’s like getting chocolate in my peanut butter every six months. And the new trailer for upcoming fall release Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, posted above for your drooling pleasure, is extremely chocolaty!

Also blowing my mind is the fact that Warner Home Video was kind enough to send over this interview with Lauren Montgomery. She did a bang up job on their last release, Wonder Woman (which won a favourable review from The Blu-ray Blog). I expect Green Lantern: First Flight to be equally as solid. Check out the trailer that follows! …Continued…
