Here it is, folks! The official details of Warner Home Video‘s upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy Extended Edition Blu-ray disc set, set to hit shops on June 28th! I’m pleased to tell you that all the extended editions of the films will be making their hi-def debuts “remastered from the original 2k digital files” with each spread across 2-discs, ensuring that the image and sound is of optimal quality. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the special feature list on the page to see what the packaging looks like opened up, with all 15-discs (6 Blu-ray discs and 9 DVDs) spread out for your viewing pleasure.
Despite already owning all three 4-disc DVD sets (the 2 bonus-feature discs of each film set are included again here) I’ll be picking this set up come June 28th. Will you? Or do you think the studio has “dipped” one too many times with their multiple Lord of the Rings releases?

I think the price is kinda too high for the set. I mean you get all 6 Star Wars films for almost the same price (got mine for $90)… But I do hope that then went back and did the movies correctly this time around, im sure the effects will look pretty dated and it seems as though soft filters were used in various scenes with the Arwen and such but still… ill just wait for reviews before i grab this one is all i have to say. Star Wars I have faith in because it is backed by George Lucas and THX so *fingers crossed*
