5. WIRELESS NETWORKING: Get your PS3 on a home network without plugging in an ethernet cable. I know, that doesn’t sound like a really fantastic feature. Nearly every modern device connects wirelessly these days. But consider what that network connectivity does for the PS3 – use the Playstation web-browser to surf, chat and email, access BD-Live Blu-ray features and bonus content, stream media from other computers, explore the virtual world of Playstation Home and help find a cure for cancer through the distributed computing of Life with Playstation, your news and weather source on the PS3. Whew! I’m out of breath!
4. 3-D CAPABLE: 3-D is coming to Blu-ray in 2010. That’s a fact. And there’s only one Blu-ray player on the market today that’s capable of being upgraded to play those 3-D Blu-ray discs. And that’s the PS3. You want true 3-D at home, to see films like Avatar and Toy Story 3 as they were meant to be seen? There’s only one choice. The PS3. ‘Nuff said.
3. NETFLIX STREAMING: A lot of newer set-top Blu-ray players are incorporating the ability to stream movies from Netflix (again, low-res streams unable to compete with the quality of high-res Blu-ray but a great way to watch movies you don’t care a lot about), so most PS3 owners were happy to see this feature added to our beloved black box. Only available through a BD-Live enabled disc at the moment, Netflix capabilities will become native later in 2010 through a firmware update which will no doubt improve upon the interface. Netflix streaming is sadly only available in the USA.
2. POWERFUL MEDIA CENTER: The Playstation 3 is the center of my home theatre set-up. I stream my iPhoto and iTunes libraries to it from my MacBook Pro. I stream movies and TV shows over from the laptop as well. And if I don’t feel like streaming, I just plug a USB drive straight into the PS3. I also keep a bunch of photos, music and shows on the PS3 itself, for those times I just want to access something quickly. The PS3 does everything I need my home theatre to do! And it can do even more – Viszone allows users in Europe and Australia to watch and download music videos, while the UK has the BBC iPlayer built right into the Cross-Media bar, allowing them to experience all the BBC has to offer. PS3 owners in the UK also have the option of purchasing a Play TV unit, which turns the PS3 into a DVR!
1. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY: You get all of this and so much more for only $299! Sure, you can grab one of those $78 Walmart Blu-ray machines but that will only get you so far. They’re fine for watching movies but you won’t be able to access BD-Live. And you won’t be able to upgrade the machine beyond what it does when you plug it in. You certainly won’t ever get it to playback future 3-D Blu-ray discs. No matter which way you slice it, the PS3 is the winner. It’s the machine that does it all. I can’t imagine my home theatre without it!

Hey, I know this post is getting old, but I was wondering which program you use to stream from your MacBook Pro to your PS3. I’ve looked around online, and it’s stupidly hard to find information on the whole Mac-PS3 media server connection details.
Thanks
