Lucio Fulci’s Zombie hits Blu-ray almost exactly two months from now, on October 25th. To tease a little further, before we get our rotting fingers on the disc, Blue Underground posted this video detailing the restoration process they’re using to bring the film up to the standards we expect for its high-def debut. …Continued…
It’s official – Blue Underground will be releasing Lucio Fulci’s Zombie (more commonly known as Zombi 2) on Blu-ray this October. While no details have been revealed at this time, the studio posted this trailer for the disc yesterday, with the following hint at what we can expect from it, when it appears …Continued…
William Lustig, director of such infamous indie hits as Maniac Cop and Vigilante, also happens to be the man in charge of home video label Blue Underground. In this new video interview with AVManiacs.com/The Cinefiles he reveals that we can look forward to seeing Lucio Fulci’s Zombie and House by the Cemetery, as well as Dario Argento’s Cat O’Nine Tails, Inferno and Deep Red on Blu-ray in the coming months. If you don’t like a zombie movie, we can’t be friends. Slap an “…of the Dead” suffix on just about any film title and I’m there! Whether it’s high-grade Hollywood fare or low-rent, B-movie imports made on a shoestring and shipped over from Italy, I’ll watch just about anything with a staggering, lurching undead brain-eater in it. Joining the ranks of the best zombie action captured on celluloid is Sony’s recent Zombieland, a truly excellent adventure/teen-romance/zombie film captured on a truly excellent, feature packed Blu-ray! …Continued…
Okay, this is just ridiculous. I can’t afford all of these discs in one week! I had no idea that February would be such a big release month. I thought March was going to be my bank-breaker and that I’d have another month to save up for the big titles but this week is going to make me reevaluate. …Continued…
Another gem I missed out on in the theatres. I can’t wait to see me some Zombieland on Blu-ray but I’m baffled at how that Jesse Eisenberg gets himself in two films, back to back that are titled something-land: first Adventureland and now Zombieland! It almost feels like this might be a sequel. Now that would be cool! …Continued…
I’ve been lamenting lately the lack of “good ole” zombie movies. It seems everything in the last decade has been about stronger, faster, smarter and angrier zombies and , while I enjoy the hell out of most of them, it feels like a slow degradation of the genre, not an evolution. …Continued…
Ok, I guess it’s officially Zombie day here on the The Blu-ray Blog, what with the Shaun of the Dead story and the Living Dead at Manchester Morgue announcement. Let’s add one more title then, shall we: the blood soaked, foot dragging, Heil Hitler-ing zombie-fest from Norway, Dead Snow.
I can’t wait to see this. It’s playing over the next few weeks here in Montreal at the Fantasia Film Festival. It’s been a big hit at every fest it’s played at, making a critical ‘killing’ (sorry) at Sundance. And now it’s on it’s way to Blu-ray. But only in the UK. Figures… …Continued…
I’ve been a fan of SImon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s Spaced series for a long time. It’s a TV show about some of my favourite things – comics, videogames and zombies. Yeah, I’m a nerd. So, when their debut film Shaun of the Dead first came to the cinema, I was super-excited. I’m happy to say that I wasn’t let down by the film in the least. It’s so much fun to watch and crafted in the spirit of Spaced. In fact, it could almost play as a sequel of sorts.
Hot Fuzz, on the other hand, while also a lot of fun, left me a little cold. Ah, well. Can’t win ‘em all. I’ll be happy to give it another chance on Blu-ray in September, when both films will be released. …Continued…
