I’ve come to a painful conclusion: I’m not the target audience for most nerd-bait. I thought I was. I thought I was the picture of a perfect geek - tech head, Star Wars fan, vast collection of toys, comics and movies…uh, Star Wars fan. But if that’s the case, if I’m really stuck in my youth, continuing to worship vestiges of my childhood, why is it then that I didn’t really enjoy Family Guy: Something Something Something Dark Side? …Continued…
The animated Star Wars The Clone Wars TV show is kind of hit and miss for me. But for some reason, most of its sins wash away or are simply forgotten with the brilliant, updated high-def presentation on the Blu-ray disc. This is the MUST HAVE holiday gift for the Star Wars fan in your life! …Continued…
My old roommate (and bandmate) is a CRAAAAAAZY big fan of the Family Guy. Over the last number of years, I’ve had a fair amount of exposure to it, thanks to him. I can’t say I’m in love with the show but I do admit to the occasional chuckle at a filthy or inappropriate Family Guy gag. I do like a good fart joke.
That being said, I’m actually intrigued by these Family Guy/Star Wars spoofs. They look pretty slick. And this new Blu-ray edition of Family Guy: Something Something Something Dark Side seems fun. Check out the trailer above and read all the details of the disc release below: …Continued…
Thank the good lord for Comic-Con! It’s the one event every year where you’re guaranteed to run into directors, producers and studio reps (along with a myriad of questionable costumed miscreants) capable of answering your burning home video questions. And this year, Examiner.com’s Bryan Young hunted down and interrogated Steve Sansweet, the head of Fan Relations at Lucasfilm. Like us, Bryan wanted to know about the possibility of seeing the Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray. And after being softened up by the business end of an electro-pike, Sansweet was ready to offer up the goods… …Continued…
It’s almost 2AM. I should be asleep already (got an early day tomorrow) but I’m so excited about this trailer for the Clone Wars Complete Season One Blu-ray that I thought I’d better shove some toothpicks under the old eyelids and get this posted for you.
This package looks fantastic! Everything we’d heard in the early rumours has come true in this release, including the digibook packaging! Look at the examples given in the trailer of the design work featured in the pages of the book! This thing looks fantastic! Exclamation mark! …Continued…
All right. You know what? It’s late. I’m tired. And there’s not much more to say about the Clone Wars except that I’m damn excited to have this press release from Lucasfilm and Warner confirming all the details for the upcoming release of The Complete Season One box set. So let’s just skip the commentary and jump right into the good stuff… …Continued…
Holy crap! This video is amazing.
Dave Berry, one of the rotoscope and animation artists who worked on the original Star Wars film from 1977, apparently skulked around the Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) workshop back in the day, shooting home-video of the experimental, ground-breaking special effects filmmaking work in progress. Now just imagine, he’s probably had to keep all of this footage under lock and key, held tightly for over 30 years for fear of battling the Sith lords of Lucasfilm’s legal department. Luckily for us, he’s compiled a little bit of it now and posted somewhat of a nostalgic montage over at Vimeo. …Continued…
Man. This is really a no-brainer. Everybody wants this. I just thought that with all the hubbub over the Clone Wars box set this week, I should say a little something about the Star Wars films and when we might see them on Blu-ray. …Continued…
We’ve known for some time now that Lucasfilm was planning a boxed-set of the first season episodes for release on Blu-ray (they’ve been releasing random collections of episodes on DVD), most likely hitting store shelves sometime this fall. And now, thanks to a scooper on the forums of Blu-ray.com we’ve got our first look at what we can expect from the set.
He notes that the discs will include: …Continued…

No Blu-ray yet for the Clone Wars but StarWars.com gives fans a new hope
Pioneer has developed a 16 layer Blu-ray disc capable of storing 400gb of data - approximately eight times the capacity of the current top of the line dual-layer disc commonly used to store feature length films - that is fully compatible with the PS3.
