This news broke over at TrekMovie.com and was confirmed by Bill Hunt at the Digital Bits. German film sites have announced the upcoming release of JJ Abrams‘ Star Trek film on Blu-ray this October 5th and have outlined the full slate of bonus features. Everything here can be considered rumour until confirmed by Paramount with an official release announcement. Take note that release details often differ from region to region, so while this news might hold true for Germany or Europe, the North American and/or British discs may be vastly different.

The release date below can also taken lightly, as Paramount shifts their fall schedule around to accommodate the home video releases of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Monsters vs. Aliens, Imagine That and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, as well as, “a TON of big catalog titles”.

Do, however, feel free to get bat-shit excited about all the deleted scenes we’re going to see. This is the stuff everybody has been talking about and waiting for. The stuff that was excised from the film. Klingons!! Spock Prime (Leonard Nimoy) seeing his dad again!! More Kirk getting it on with the green gal!! Yeah! Life is good…

“You Made Me…Made Me Late For My American BD Date!”

Bill Hunt of TheDigitalBits.com has confirmed with Warner Home Video representatives that we’ll be seeing a Blu-ray release of the Burton/Schumacher Batman films sooner rather than later. Suspicions of an imminent release were raised when a Japanese Blu-ray announcement was followed directly by UK release dates – usually a damn good sign that we’re going to see an announcement for the North American region. The discs will most likely street as individual discs as well as the Motion Picture Anthology box set alongside the DVD re-releases, already announced for February 10th.

UPDATE: Hunt has given readers an update, stating that his source claims that the discs will now be rescheduled and will be arriving later than expected. Rest assured, they will eventually see release. It just looks like we’ll have to hold on beyond February to get our dirty mitts on them.

Lookin’ Sharp in your best Blu outfit

The 2009 Consumer Electronics Show is coming up quickly – January 8-11 to be exact. As we approach the opening of the annual Las Vegas extravaganza, the big electronics manufacturers will start leaking bigger and more impressive announcements, hoping to get a jump on the news cycle and their competition. First out of the gate is Sharp with their 32 and 42 inch LCD HDTV sporting built-in Blu-ray players. Wired is reporting that the AQUOS DX HDTVs will debut at CES with pricing and details at the show.
