Well now, this is a welcome sight to wake up to this morning! It seems that the fan’s cries have finally worn down HBO and forced them to release Deadwood: The Complete Series on Blu-ray at long last! Now, we don’t have a formal announcement from Warner and HBO or any sort of details yet, but the preorder has gone live on Amazon.com, providing us with this package art – a sure sign that we’ll see this boxed set before the holiday season. I recall Tombstone being the film that made me believe that I could enjoy a western. Before that time, I really went out of my way to avoid them, certain that I could never get into anything starring John Wayne or Clint Eastwood in a ten-gallon hat. Tombstone turned me around. These two films are fan favourites but I’m only excited about one of them coming to Blu-ray. I have to admit, I’ve never seen Armageddon and I’m not sure if I ever will. It just seems too…90s-dumb. I’m sorry. I know it has a lot of fans. I’m just pretty sure I’ll never be one. On the other hand, I’d be happy to watch Tombstone once a week. It’s one of the few great, really entertaining modern westerns to come out of that decade. …Continued…
