BKO: Bangkok Knockout Blu-ray Disc Review

I can’t say that I was really “Knocked Out” by the newest in a long line of ultra-raw thai fight films. BKO: Bangkok Knockout is brought to us by the same folks responsible for the infinitely superior Ong Bak and Chocolate but lacks the story and star power of those flicks. Thankfully, the fights are great and the Blu-ray looks pretty slick. …Continued…

Chocolate Blu-ray Disc Review

Produced and directed by the same team that brought Ong Bak and Tom yum goong (The Protector) to the screen, Chocolate, at its core a simple gangland vengeance film, is merely a shade of those much finer efforts. For all of the faults of its poorly constructed script, it does, however provide a perfect showcase for the talents of the beautiful and impressive Jeeja Yanin, the breakout star of the film. …Continued…

Ong Bak 2: The Beginning Blu-ray Disc Review

I’m fairly certain that Tony Jaa is not a real human being. If he were flesh and blood, there’s no way he would be able to perform the stunts, the martial-arts mash-ups and acrobatics on display in the spectacle that is Ong Bak 2. For gods sake, the man surfs a herd of elephants here! Who can do that?! …Continued…

Blu-ray Picks for the Week of February 2

Okay, this is just ridiculous. I can’t afford all of these discs in one week! I had no idea that February would be such a big release month. I thought March was going to be my bank-breaker and that I’d have another month to save up for the big titles but this week is going to make me reevaluate. …Continued…

Ong Bak coming to Blu-ray in February!

Good going Fox! In somewhat of a last-minute announcement, Fox has let us know that they’re bringing the original Ong Bak to Blu-ray on February 2nd! No doubt to fall in line with Magnet’s release of the sequel, Ong Bak 2: The Beginning, making it’s Blu-ray debut on the same date. What a great day that’s going to be for martial arts fans and Tony Jaa fans in particular. I, for one, can’t wait! Details below: …Continued…

Ong Bak 2: The Beginning heading to Blu-ray in February

My friend Rupert has been lending me his Tony Jaa films lately (I promise, I’ll give them back soon!) and I’m totally blown away by the guy. Jaa that is, not Rupert (Um…you’re ok too, Rupert.) He’s a sort of modern, Thai Bruce Lee. The fighting style is totally different but the speed, elegance and raw ability to kick ass are very similar. I’m happy to see that Magnolia is bringing Jaa’s latest film, Ong Bak 2: The Beginning to Blu-ray in February. Details below: …Continued…
