Looks like director Michael Mann has taken the old hatchet to his popular film, Heat. We’ve just received the final list of bonus features for the upcoming Blu-ray edition of the film and it notes “New Content Changes Supervised by Director Michael Mann”. Now, what these changes might entail has yet to be revealed. What we can tell you is that the original running time of the film was 171 minutes (the original DVD release was listed at 172 minutes), whereas the Blu-ray seems to clock in at 170. Yep. I just had the opportunity to hit Michael Mann’s excellent Public Enemies in the theatre last week. Amazing. A prohibition era film shot on high-def video! Who else would have the balls to do that?! Yeah, I’m a bit of a Mann fanboy. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to read about Warner’s upcoming release of his excellent Heat on Blu-ray. It doesn’t appear that we’ll be getting anything new on the disc, that wasn’t already on the DVD but hell, I’d just about pull a heist to have the opportunity to watch Heat in beautiful 1080p!
