I watched the DVD screener of X-Men: First Class that Fox sent over the other night and, once again, enjoyed the heck out the film. In fact, I was trying to get work done while it was playing, which proved pointless, as I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. This is one hell of a fun little film! I’m really looking forward to Friday, September the 9th, the grab this up on Blu-ray and check it out in high-def. I’m expecting great things from this one. …Continued…
I enjoyed the heck out of X-Men: First Class when I saw it in the cinema last month. It’s like a film where James Bond is teamed with super-powered mutants fighting evil super-powered mutants during the cold war. If Bond happened to be played by the amazing Michael Fassbender and has the power of magnetism! Awesome! I expect that the Blu-ray, just announced by Fox for a September 9th release (a Friday!) will be equally as awesome. …Continued…
Oh my god, I effing love this film. This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. I’m not kidding. Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank is raw and powerful and features some of the most compelling performances in modern film (Katie Jarvis and Michael Fassbender!) This is great stuff. And the Blu-ray from Criterion knocks it out of the park. Not only does it look and sound fantastic but it features some brilliant bonus goodies as well. If you have any doubts about grabbing up the disc , watch Criterion’s new Three Reasons video above. …Continued…

Another month, another collection of amazing contemporary and classic titles making their way to Blu courtesy of the Criterion Collection. With February bowing six titles, a collection of films both new to the Collection as well as vintage Criterion efforts, I’m going to be hard pressed to decide where to spend my hard-earned Blu-ray dollars. …Continued…
Centurion is a film based in historical fact, that attempts to offer a possible explanation for the disappearance of an entire legion of Roman soldiers in the mists of what would eventually become Scotland more than a millennia ago. At the center of the tale is the son of a gladiator and a small band of unlucky Roman soldiers. …Continued…
Oh geez. I can’t afford this. Nobody can afford this. This is an inordinate amount of awesomeness for one week. Three Criterion discs, three classics from Studio Canal, a Scorsese, an anime anthology, Audrey Tautou and faux-vintage blaxploitation. How’s a guy supposed to pick a top five out of all this greatness?! Sigh…I’m going to cheat, that’s how. …Continued…
