Bad Boys Blu-ray Disc Review

I kind of feel like this blog is finally giving me an excuse to watch all of the trashy 90s movies I avoided in my youth, several of them from flash-heavy/substance-lite wunderkind Michael Bay. While I didn’t really care much for his Armageddon (as evidenced in my review) and I’m not a big fan of The Transformers franchise, I actually had some fun watching the director’s first big-budget feature film, Bad Boys, now on Blu-ray. …Continued…

Armageddon Blu-ray Disc Review

You probably won’t believe this but until a couple of nights ago I had never watched Armageddon. I had successfully managed to avoid Michael Bay’s most famous ode to machismo and Americana for over a decade. It figures that it would take the new Blu-ray release of the film to finally break me down and force me into a screening. And after all was said and done, the film failed to leave me breathless…but it did render me speechless. …Continued…

Disney bringing Tombstone and Armageddon to Blu-ray

These two films are fan favourites but I’m only excited about one of them coming to Blu-ray. I have to admit, I’ve never seen Armageddon and I’m not sure if I ever will. It just seems too…90s-dumb. I’m sorry. I know it has a lot of fans. I’m just pretty sure I’ll never be one. On the other hand, I’d be happy to watch Tombstone once a week. It’s one of the few great, really entertaining modern westerns to come out of that decade. …Continued…

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Blu-ray Disc Review

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is one of the silliest, most ridiculous films to come out of the blockbuster cinema season of 2009. It’s also one of the best, most mindlessly enjoyable action-romps you’ll have the pleasure of suffering through all year! …Continued…

Walmart to get Exclusive, Longer IMAX Version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Blu-ray

No way! Come on! I may not have cared a whole hell-of-a-lot for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen but I think after Michael Bay’s comments about his longer IMAX cut of the film and his love for Blu-ray we all thought that the disc would end up being something special. Well, it turns out that only SOME of the Blu-ray disc versions of the film will be special. And you’ll be able to buy them at Wal-Mart for a premium price, of course. …Continued…
