I enjoyed the heck out of X-Men: First Class when I saw it in the cinema last month. It’s like a film where James Bond is teamed with super-powered mutants fighting evil super-powered mutants during the cold war. If Bond happened to be played by the amazing Michael Fassbender and has the power of magnetism! Awesome! I expect that the Blu-ray, just announced by Fox for a September 9th release (a Friday!) will be equally as awesome. …Continued…
Marvel Comics mighty God of Thunder will bring the hammer down on Blu-ray this September 13th with the release of a couple of feature packed editions of the summer blockbuster, Thor! …Continued…
I recall being pretty enthusiastic about Albert Pyun‘s Captain America film way back in 1990, produced hot on the heels of Warner‘s hit Batman and riding a wave of superhero-film excitement. I was enthusiastic, that is, until I sat through a screening of it. Urgh. What a low-budget turd. This is a film so bad that no creative editing, no CGI enhancements could possibly improve it. But that’s not what Pyun thinks. According to io9, the director is preparing a brand new Director’s Cut of the film, based on “my own 35 mm CA work picture and temp mix [that] I did before I left [the] picture.” And lucky for us, this new cut of the film will be on Blu-ray in May, just in time to take advantage of Marvel‘s upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger flik due in theatres this summer. …Continued…
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s now official! Shout Factory has issued a press release with all the details of their upcoming Blu-ray edition of the classic 1987 animated G.I. Joe: The Movie! You know, the one where Duke was supposed to die but in a last minute change to please parents he was miraculously revived? Or rather, you may remember it as the very silly film that introduced the Cobra La crew of flying, slithering and chanting snake people into the franchise mythology. Either way, I’m sure you recall that it wasn’t very good, outside of the fun and very dynamic title sequence. Would that the animation and vibe of the film itself could have lived up to those initial three minutes (see above video!) That said, I’m excited to watch it again for the first time in years. This time in glorious HD and in 16:9 Widescreen! Thank you, Shout Factory! Details below: …Continued…
A couple of weeks ago we told you about the animated G.I. Joe: The Movie being prepared for Blu-ray. Well, now, thanks to Amazon, we’ve got a release date and a first look at the package art for the disc! …Continued…
Holy crap! I never thought I would be typing these words – the 1987, animated G.I. Joe: The Movie is going to be released on Blu-ray! It’s true, folks. And I have proof!! …Continued…
All right. I know. I’ve posted most of this stuff before. But you see, most of that news was either speculation or condensed information. But this is the real deal, straight from the horses mouth. According to Fox, you can take it to the bank that this is the final word on X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The confusing bit for me is that there’s no hint of the alternate cut that director Gavin Hood mentioned to Home Media Magazine last week, and that we reported on only days ago. Maybe it’s an Easter Egg. …Continued…
Ok. I really wasn’t expecting this. Marvel has teamed up renowned Japanese animation studio Madhouse (Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers) and multiple-Eagle Award winning writer Warren Ellis to create four new animated versions of classic superhero stories. The comic book publisher released trailers for two of the series, expected to begin airing in Japan next year. Check out the incredible Iron Man trailer above, and Wolverine below! Let’s hope these make their way to Blu-ray some day soon… …Continued…
Well, that was quick. X-Men Origins: Wolverine hasn’t even been in theatres a month and here’s the Amazon listing for the Blu-ray disc, posted and making the bestseller list! Despite being downloaded five trillion times and making a bazillion dollars in the cinema, the audience is still hungry for more of the ‘ole canucklehead’s’ latest big-screen adventure and is ready to throw more money at Fox to get them some.
April 21st will see the release of ‘X-Men’, ‘X2: X-Men United’, and ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ on Blu-ray
