Well now, this is a welcome sight to wake up to this morning! It seems that the fan’s cries have finally worn down HBO and forced them to release Deadwood: The Complete Series on Blu-ray at long last! Now, we don’t have a formal announcement from Warner and HBO or any sort of details yet, but the preorder has gone live on Amazon.com, providing us with this package art – a sure sign that we’ll see this boxed set before the holiday season. Deadwood: The Complete Series carries a steep suggested retail price of $209.98 but is available at Amazon for only $146.99. …Continued…
This is an overwhelming week of Blu-ray releases if I’ve ever seen one! What’s a film fan and disc collector to do when faced with so many options? My first reaction – grab up the new Criterion discs. Second – the restored classics. After that, if I’m not in the poor house already – the best of the rest. This week is a poor-house week, if ever I’ve seen one… …Continued…
Did you see HBO’s magnificent Band of Brothers series? Did you pick it up on Blu-ray? So, so good. Sadly, I haven’t yet checked out the sequel series, The Pacific, that’s been airing this year but I’m willing to bet it’s going to blow me away when it hits Blu this coming November. Details below: …Continued…
With a cast of great characters and compelling b-movie storylines, True Blood is just as silly, soap operatic and supernatural in its second season as it was in its first. Perhaps even more so! And that fun transfers in whole to this exceptional Complete Second Season Blu-ray set! …Continued…
How do you take a beloved childrens book, less than 50-pages long, and turn it into a feature film that speaks to the whole family? I don’t know. And I’m not sure Where the Wild Things Are director, Spike Jonze knows either but, along with writer Dave Eggers, he sure gives it a good old college try. What results is a film that’s at the same time disturbing and wonderful. …Continued…

I’ve been a fan of The Sopranos since day one. I watched every episode as it aired and loyally purchased every season set on DVD as they were released. With both parts of season six available on Blu-ray for some time now, I’ve found myself waiting quite impatiently for the rest of the series to make its way to the format. I’m happy to tell you that the recently released The Sopranos: The Complete First Season Blu-ray Disc set is a marked improvement over the DVDs! …Continued…

This is another one of those films that escaped me this past year, despite the fact that I’m a massive fan of the original Maurice Sendak book and love the work of director, Spike Jonze. …Continued…
