UPDATED! Attack the Block Blu-ray available for pre-order, ships in October

I really enjoyed Attack the Block. It’s a solid little indie film that’s got a very contemporary Goonies feel to it – if the Goonies were little London thugs defending their neighbourhood from nasty aliens. While Sony has yet to announce the release of the film on Blu-ray, Amazon has listed it for pre-order, without, of course, any details or release date. Thank goodness for the e-tailer’s Canadian counterpart, Amazon.ca, who have the Blu-ray scheduled for release on October 25th, with a suggested retail price of $35.99 CAN. We don’t have any package art or any idea what supplemental material Sony will include on the disc yet but it’s fairly likely their release will mimic the UK Blu from Optimum. …Continued…

Top 5 New Blu-ray releases for the Week of November 9

The last couple of weeks have been absolutely overwhelming with scads of killer Blu-ray releases that have been making my head spin (and my eyes exhausted from all the hours of viewing time I’ve been cramming in, outside of the hours of monitor viewing I cram in as part of my daily office grind.) This week is a bit more manageable for we Blu-aholics but, thanks to a couple of A-list films and a few surprises, it’s absolutely just as enjoyable. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Blu-ray Trailer

I can hardly believe it but I’ll finally get to watch Scott Pilgrim vs. The World in just over a couple of weeks! It sure has been a long time coming for this writer who managed to miss every single opportunity to see it in the theatre over the last few months since its release. Thankfully, the Blu-ray hits shops on November 9th and I can’t hardly wait! …Continued…

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Blu-ray officially announced

Guess what? That’s right – I still haven’t seen the Scott Pilgrim film. Such is the life of a guy pulling double duty at the office during the day, musician in a band by night and Blu-ray reviewer in the spaces between. Sigh… Nevertheless, this Blu-ray disc looks to be something to get excited about – far more feature-rich than the rumours made it out to be. So, maybe, if the stars align, if everything is in its right place, I might just get a chance to see Scott Pilgrim when it comes to Blu-ray on November 9th. Here’s hoping… …Continued…

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Blu-ray details emerge

You’ll never believe it if I tell you but I still haven’t gotten a chance to see Scott Pilgrim yet. Yeah, I know. It’s almost too late. But as I prepare myself to completely miss out on the big-screen experience, Bleeding Cool has whet my appetite for the eventual Blu-ray release of the film with their report detailing some of the special features we’re likely to see on the disc. Read on! …Continued…

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World coming to Blu-ray in November, available for pre-order (UPDATED!)

Argh! This just came out! I haven’t even seen it yet! Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is the one movie of the summer that I promised myself I would catch in the cinemas, no matter the cost. And here it is, just a couple of weeks after hitting the big screen, already available for pre-order on Amazon. This does not bode well for its longevity at my local AMC. …Continued…

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz come to Blu-ray in September

I’ve been a fan of SImon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s Spaced series for a long time. It’s a TV show about some of my favourite things – comics, videogames and zombies. Yeah, I’m a nerd. So, when their debut film Shaun of the Dead first came to the cinema, I was super-excited. I’m happy to say that I wasn’t let down by the film in the least. It’s so much fun to watch and crafted in the spirit of Spaced. In fact, it could almost play as a sequel of sorts.

Hot Fuzz, on the other hand, while also a lot of fun, left me a little cold. Ah, well. Can’t win ‘em all. I’ll be happy to give it another chance on Blu-ray in September, when both films will be released. …Continued…
