Can you believe this? To this day, I have yet to see a single film in the Twilight series. It’s true. So the trailer above means very little to me. Nor does the release of the Blu-ray disc of the penultimate film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. It’ll be on store shelves in a few weeks, which I take to mean that the final installment of the series will be hitting cinemas shortly thereafter. At this point, I think I’m just going to wait ’till this whole things is wrapped up before I dive in and experience sparkling vampires for myself. …Continued…

I can’t say that I was really “Knocked Out” by the newest in a long line of ultra-raw thai fight films. BKO: Bangkok Knockout is brought to us by the same folks responsible for the infinitely superior Ong Bak and Chocolate but lacks the story and star power of those flicks. Thankfully, the fights are great and the Blu-ray looks pretty slick. …Continued…
Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life has finally been officially announced for release on Blu-ray. As I reported a few weeks ago, eOne has got the Canadian release while the US version will come from Fox. The Canadian pre-order ship date listed on Amazon.ca has been pushed back a couple of weeks from the previously published September 27th to October 11th, to match the US. The Blu-ray is fairly bare-bones, including only a 30-minute “making of” doc but is reported to utilize “maximum bit rate encoding and 7.1 audio and a 2.0 stereo mix to bring Malick’s visually stunning masterpiece to life providing consumers with a premium cinematic viewing experience for the home.” Sounds good to me! I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. …Continued…
I haven’t been sent a press release for this yet but I noticed a few days ago that Amazon.ca has a preorder for the September 27th release of The Tree of Life on Blu-ray from eOne Films. This is huge news as there hasn’t been a hint of any sort of home video release for the title as yet. Even still, I’m not sure where the film will end up in the US – will it be a Fox release or will Criterion license the film so that it might live beside the other Terrence Malick releases in their library? Only time will tell. …Continued…

Kites is a fun, lite Bollywood romp with enough action, music and melodrama to satisfy any fan of the genre. But is it a good film? And more importantly, is it a good Blu-ray?
