Walt Disney’s Dumbo officially announced for Blu-ray release

It’s been over a year since Dumbo was released on Blu-ray in Mexico and now finally, at long last, Disney has announced it’s heading north to the US and Canada. Dumbo will hit store shelves on September 20th, in a 70th Anniversary Blu-ray edition that seems to echo the previous release in every way, outside of the packaging. …Continued…

What do you say when one of the best animated films of the last decade makes its way to Blu-ray in a near perfect presentation with a ton of special features? How do you describe a disc of this variety? What words can one possibly use outside of amazing, wonderful, marvelous, spectacular, remarkable, phenomenal, prodigious, breathtaking, extraordinary, unbelievable… All right, there are a lot of synonym’s for incredible. Tron: Legacy/Tron: The Original Classic Blu-ray Disc Combo Pack Review

Tron: Legacy, the long awaited sequel to the original 1982 film, was released on Blu-ray this past week in a variety of configurations. I had a chance to screen the 5-Disc combo pack which includes the new film on 3D and 2D Blu-ray discs, along with DVD and Digital Copy versions. The Combo Pack also includes a Blu-ray of Tron: The Original Classic (as it’s now dubbed) in all its restored glory. This is an extraordinary release that falls just shy of being a fan’s dream come true. …Continued…

After many years of great success distributing their films, Disney acquired pioneering 3D animation studio Pixar. Given the incredible box-office draw and critical acclaim of those films, it seemed as if in-House-of-Mouse product might never be able to measure up to their runaway success. Well, Tangled might be a game changer. It was a crowd-pleaser during its theatrical run and is now available on gorgeous, demo-quality Blu-ray disc. If you happened to read my review of Disney‘s recent Bambi Blu-ray disc, you might have noticed how taken I was with the Second Screen feature – a downloadable app for either your PC or iPad that essentially provides you with a picture-in-picture experience that you can manipulate and participate in as the film progresses. I think it’s the most unique, best special feature to come to home video in ages. The upcoming Tron: Legacy Blu-ray will be the second Disney disc to include the Second Screen feature.
