Batman: Year One Blu-ray announced and detailed

The Batman: Year One animated film premiered to rave reviews at the San Diego Comic Con over the weekend. Shortly before hand, Warner announced the full details of the Blu-ray disc, which will be released everywhere this coming October. If the reviews and the trailer above are any indication, this is going to be one hell of a Batman film. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Animated Batman: Year One Blu-ray trailer

We saw a tease for Warner‘s upcoming direct to video Batman: Year One animated film on the Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Blu-ray a month or so back. As is par for the course in those pieces, there wasn’t much in the way of finished animation in the clip. Just a lot of design work, storyboards and interviews. With the release of the trailer above, we can finally get a sense of how this thing is going to look when it hits Blu-ray on October 18th. …Continued…

Jonah Hex Blu-ray Disc Review

Shootin’, sneering and cussin’ should be enough to deliver a wild, western, action thriller with a dash of the paranormal. Jonah Hex draws and fires, but it’s only a flesh wound. This recent release from Warner Bros. misses the mark, but not by much. …Continued…

Top 5 New Blu-ray releases for the Week of November 9

The last couple of weeks have been absolutely overwhelming with scads of killer Blu-ray releases that have been making my head spin (and my eyes exhausted from all the hours of viewing time I’ve been cramming in, outside of the hours of monitor viewing I cram in as part of my daily office grind.) This week is a bit more manageable for we Blu-aholics but, thanks to a couple of A-list films and a few surprises, it’s absolutely just as enjoyable. …Continued…

Top 5 New Blu-ray releases for the Week of February 23

Another week, another bank-breaker collection of new Blu-ray releases! Thankfully for my pocketbook, while there may be a lot of titles hitting the shops today, there isn’t a lot I feel the need to grab up. As always, we appreciate any Amazon purchase you make through our links. They help to keep this column and the site alive! …Continued…

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Blu-ray Disc Review

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, an intelligent, well performed, well animated direct-to-video feature, is perhaps the crown jewel in the library of DC Comics’ cartoon movies. It manages to tell a fun little superhero tale packed with action and character in an all-too-brief seventy-five minutes. Yet, as wonderful as it is, it’s almost overshadowed by the sheer bounty of compelling bonus features on the extra-packed Blu-ray disc! …Continued…

Warner Home Video releases first images from DC Showcase animation short "The Spectre"

Hot damn! This is what I like to wake up to – the first official images from Warner and DC Comics’ new animated short, The Spectre! While the pics and the accompanying info in the press release don’t contain much new information, it is nice to finally sneak a peak at the short. I’m really digging the character designs, from what little we can see here, in the three images provided and I have high hopes for the Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) script. The Spectre will be distributed February 23 by Warner Home Video as part of the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Blu-ray/DVD. Here’s what Warner Home Video has to say about the short film: …Continued…

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Blu-ray Announced and Detailed with DC Showcase: The Spectre short

At long last, we’ve got some details on Warner Home Video and DC Comics’ next animated, direct-to-video Blu-ray release: Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths! This thing looks like it’s going to blow my mind. And it’s not just the film itself I’m talking about here. It’s the disc. …Continued…
