If you’re reading The Blu-ray Blog, you most likely don’t need to be sold on the benefits of the technology. And if you follow us at all, you most likely don’t need to be sold any further on Fox‘s amazing slate of recent and upcoming releases on the format. We’ve published a crap-ton of articles on the Alien Anthology, The Sound of Music: 45th Anniversary Edition, Moulin Rouge and The Rocky Horror Picture Show Blu-ray discs. Having just received them a couple of days ago, I can personally speak to the outstanding quality of the Moulin Rouge and Rocky Horror releases on the format. I’m simply blown away by the high-standard of the transfers, extras and packaging of these discs and can easily place them amongst the finest of the year. …Continued…
Just scroll down this page quickly, and take a look at all the discs being released today. Crazy, isn’t it?! I don’t have actual numbers to back this up but September 2010 seems like it’s the most balls-out bonkers Blu-ray disc extravaganza on record! Making it super tough to pick only the five best titles of the week. …Continued…
We haven’t gotten our hands on Fox’s upcoming Alien Anthology Blu-ray disc set yet but after seeing these screen grabs from the films, the verdict is in, as far as I’m concerned – this is the must-have boxed set of the season! …Continued…
You’ve got to know by now that I’m just bursting to get my hands on Fox’s upcoming Alien Anthology Blu-ray boxed set. Well, this new trailer promoting the discs might not provide any new information but it has managed to ramp up my anticipation ten-fold. October 26th can’t come soon enough, if you ask me! …Continued…

Here in Canada, we’ve had David Fincher’s brilliant Seven on Blu-ray for a little while now. Sadly, it was authored with the incorrect aspect ratio (1.78:1 instead of the original 2.35:1) and in the less-than-acceptable 1080i. Being an unabashed fan of the film and of the director, I was happy to see that Warner/New Line is preparing a new Digibook edition of the Blu-ray, set for release this coming September. Details below: …Continued…
I…don’t even know what to say about this Alien Anthology teaser trailer. I can’t say for sure it’s not fan made, though I suspect it’s not. It looks pretty slick, like something Fox would produce to promote a Blu-ray box set. What I can say for sure is that it really doesn’t give us any new information about the impending release of this supposedly killer boxed set. There are a lot of rumours floating around regarding release dates, packaging (see two possible examples below), and a veritable cornucopia of new special features like Sigourney Weaver commentary tracks and other documentary extras produced by the incredible Charles De Lauzirika (producer of the Blade Runner Blu-ray set). But until we get an official announcement from the studio, consider everything about this Anthology to be conjecture…Including this trailer. …Continued…
The Alien Quadrilogy Blu-ray boxed set that was revealed in European flyers last year may not ever make it to our shores. Instead, a recent trade ad (revealed on High-Def Digests forums) has announced that a collection referred to as the Alien Anthology will be released in the USA and Canada for the holiday season of this year! …Continued…
I’m not such a big fan of Fight Club but I worship at the altar of director David Fincher. That’s why I’m excited about getting my hands on Fox’s upcoming Blu-ray edition of his technically brilliant adaptation of Chuck Palaniuk’s famous anti-establishment novel. Not so much to watch the film as entertainment. But to enjoy it for its technical merits. To enjoy the discs special features. And this Blu-ray has a lot of them! Details below: …Continued…
