Holy crap! I had no idea today was such a huge, overwhelming release day. I mean, there aren’t a ton of brand new titles hitting shops (most are older, catalogue films) but they’re hitting in vast numbers. And a lot of them are outstanding! I started writing this post on Monday. As you can clearly tell, it’s taken me a few days of work, chipping away at it whenever I’ve had a few moments to spare, to get this thing done. Criterion announces September Blu-ray titles: The Thin Red Line, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Breathless, Charade

God help me but I’m going to be completely broke by the end of this year if this keeps up. I’m sorry to sing the same song over and over again but Criterion proves month after month that they can read my mind, choosing some of my favourite films to bring to Blu-ray. Ever since getting my hands on the 300: The Complete Experience Digibook packaging, I’ve been sold on the idea. What a great little book! To me, this is such a fantastic combination of content and form. And what better content to include in deluxe packaging than the films of the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock!
