This weeks new Blu-ray releases include ‘SUPERMAN: THE MOTION PICTURE ANTHOLOGY’, ‘THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES’, ‘THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING’, ‘GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD KNIGHTS’ and a host of double-movie packs from Warner, ‘TRUE GRIT’ (2010) from Paramount, ‘ANOTHER YEAR’ from Sony, ‘THE STUNT MAN’ from Severin, ‘ROBIN OF SHERWOOD: SET 1′ from Acorn and many, many more!
This is fantastic and godawful news all in one deft blow! Warner Home Video has announced that, at long last, they will do their best to replicate the massive 14-DVD Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology boxed set they released back in 2006, on a brand new, gussied up, 8-Disc Blu-ray set. This box marks the debut of several films (and versions of films) as well as documentaries in high-def. …Continued…
This movie came out of nowhere. It hit me up-side the head with a perfect blend of comedy, atmosphere and pure horror that, as far as I can tell, has made it the ultimate Halloween experience committed to film. I predict that very soon, for a lot of people Trick ‘r Treat will be necessary viewing every October 31st, just as A Christmas Story has become a holiday staple every December. …Continued…
A friend of mine dragged me to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine in the theatre this past summer. I was completely prepared to despise it, having read some early reviews and watched enough previews and specials to tell me that this film wasn’t for me. It pretty much delivered exactly what I expected – mindless action loosely connected through ridiculous plot threads and plastic characters. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a lot more to like about it upon my second viewing of the film, on the Blu-ray disc! …Continued…
We’re less than a week away from the day Fox unleashes the X-Men Origins: Wolverine Blu-ray upon the world (read our full run-down on the disc here). If you can’t wait to get your hands on it and check out all the special features, we’ve got a little sneak peek at what you can expect, in the special features preview video below. …Continued…
Like the headline says, you folks across the pond have been handed all the details and a release date for FOX’s upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine Blu-ray disc. It’s a pretty safe bet to assume that we here, in North America will get a similar release around the same time so expect an announcement soon-ish.
Take note of the list of bonus features below. It seems that we’re not given a hint of the multiple endings seen in theatres. Is this simply an omission from the announced extras? Are the multiple endings buried within one of the features (like, are we going to see them in Wolverine Unleashed: The Complete Origins?) Or is it possible that we’ll see them all edited into the film, à la the home video version of Clue? …Continued…
I think I’ve got a lot of Tom Cruise baggage. That must be it. I’m not sure if it’s the scientology, the Nicole Kidman-break-up or the uber-fake, aggressively-jolly persona he puts on for the media but damage has been done to my perception of the man. And that damage, of course, carries over to my desire to see him in films.
So, there I am, holding the Valkyrie Blu-ray in my hand, considering whether it might not be better to pass the disc off to someone else for review, when my roommate storms in, “Is that Valkyrie? Oh, sweeeet! Put it on!” And just like that, it was out of my hands.
All 3 films in the X-Men series will be available in triple disc versions individually or packaged together in a box-set on April 21st
April 21st will see the release of ‘X-Men’, ‘X2: X-Men United’, and ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ on Blu-ray
