Where the Wild Things Are Blu-ray Disc Review

How do you take a beloved childrens book, less than 50-pages long, and turn it into a feature film that speaks to the whole family? I don’t know. And I’m not sure Where the Wild Things Are director, Spike Jonze knows either but, along with writer Dave Eggers, he sure gives it a good old college try. What results is a film that’s at the same time disturbing and wonderful. …Continued…

Whiteout Blu-ray Disc Review

Whiteout is the punching bag of 2009. Very few critics were able to find a kind word or two to write about the film. It sits at the bottom of the list of Rotten Tomatoes 100 worst-reviewed films of the decade after lingering in development hell since 1999 and being buried in the Warner vaults since 2007. But is it really that bad? …Continued…

Where The Wild Things Are on Blu-ray in March

Oh boy. I can’t wait for this! Warner Home Video has officially announced the March release of Where the Wild Things Are on Blu-ray! This is another one of those films that escaped me this past year, despite the fact that I’m a massive fan of the original Maurice Sendak book and love the work of director, Spike Jonze. …Continued…

Whiteout comes to Blu-ray in January

I’m a comic book geek. Have been as long as I can recall. A number of years ago a good pal of mine had the chance to work with author Greg Rucka, which provided me the impetus to finally check out some of his work. His graphic novel Whiteout illustrated by the very talented Steve Lieber won me over immediately. It’s a whodunnit in Antarctica, with a female “Dirty Harry” on the job, tasked to hunt down the killer in the cold, desolate land of ice and snow. Excellent stuff! I didn’t get a chance to see the film in the theatres but I’m anxious to check out the Blu-ray when it hits stores January 19th. Details below: …Continued…
