Blu-ray Picks for the Week of September 29 – The Wizard of Oz
What a huge release week filled with amazing titles! Sadly, I haven’t gotten my hands on a single Blu-ray disc yet so I can’t out-and-out recommend any of them from personal experience. But if I had to put my money on any one of these titles being a spectacular and worthwhile purchase, I’d have to bet on The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition. …Continued…
The Wizard of Oz Confirmed for Blu-ray Release in September
Well, this is a welcome surprise. I mean I was aware that work was being done on a Wizard of Oz Blu-ray release. I just didn’t expect to see it so soon and presented in such grandeur. It appears that Warner has broken the bank on Oz once again, going back to the film’s negatives for an all-new, high definition master, scanned at 8K resolution!
And not only is The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Edition going to sport one of the finest transfers in home video, but it also looks to offer a truly impressive package of bonus features. The studio has ported over most of the old DVD extras and added more than 4 hours worth of new material. Details: …Continued…
