[VIDEO] The Digital Bits’ Golden Age of Blu-ray Panel

I can honestly say that there’s nothing that makes me regret missing Comic Con more every year (because I actually miss it every single year) than Bill Hunt‘s (of The Digital Bits‘ Bill Hunts) annual home video panel. And not just because he gives away amazing Blu-ray and DVD boxed sets (although that’s probably pretty great too!) Thankfully this year, the good folks at Gamespot recorded the panel and have posted it online for our viewing pleasure. You’ll hear Bill moderate a discussion between Adam Jahnke (of the Bits), producers Charles de Lauzirika (Blade Runner, Alien Anthology) and Cliff Stephenson (Rambo, The Expendables) and George Feltenstein, the man who makes Warner‘s Blu-ray discs happen. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Star Wars Blu-ray Deleted Scenes preview

You know, I’m not too sad I’m missing Comic Con this year, when there are so many amazing films to be seen at Fantasia, here in Montreal. But I do really feel the burn of missing out on all the Blu-ray previews and breaking news. Thankfully, we’ve got a lot of pals gathering pics, news and preview videos from the halls of the con. Just like the one you’ll find above, uploaded by our buddy Justin over at High Def Disc News. The video, screened earlier today at the San Diego Con, previews a ton of deleted scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy that will be featured in the upcoming Blu-ray set. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Kung Fu Panda 2 Blu-ray trailer

Yeah, I know, the video embed above says “DVD Trailer” on it but you know the drill. Not unlike an evil, duplicitous ninja, this trailer serves two masters – advertising both the standard and the high-def disc releases of Kung Fu Panda 2, both apparently due out in October. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Animated Batman: Year One Blu-ray trailer

We saw a tease for Warner‘s upcoming direct to video Batman: Year One animated film on the Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Blu-ray a month or so back. As is par for the course in those pieces, there wasn’t much in the way of finished animation in the clip. Just a lot of design work, storyboards and interviews. With the release of the trailer above, we can finally get a sense of how this thing is going to look when it hits Blu-ray on October 18th. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Battle Beyond The Stars Blu-ray Trailer

If you like your cheese in a low-budget, ’70s vintage, Star Wars-flavoured and starring a host of television personalities, then Roger Corman’s Battle Beyond the Stars might just be for you. Shout Factory brings the John Sayles-scripted film to Blu-ray on July 12 with commentary from Corman, Sayles and then production manager Gale Ann Hurd (Terminator, Aliens, Hulk) that might just prove to be worth the price of the disc alone. …Continued…

[VIDEO] Three Reasons: Fish Tank – The Criterion Collection

Oh my god, I effing love this film. This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. I’m not kidding. Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank is raw and powerful and features some of the most compelling performances in modern film (Katie Jarvis and Michael Fassbender!) This is great stuff. And the Blu-ray from Criterion knocks it out of the park. Not only does it look and sound fantastic but it features some brilliant bonus goodies as well. If you have any doubts about grabbing up the disc , watch Criterion’s new Three Reasons video above. …Continued…
