I admit. This has nothing to do with Blu-ray. I mean, I really hope that when the time comes, Disney will release this new, Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes animated series on Blu but I’m not going to hold my breath. …Continued…
My Neighbour Totoro. Castle in the Sky. Kiki’s Delivery Service. These are among my favourite films of all time. And they are all newly re-released on DVD this week from Disney. …Continued…
I’m not the biggest fan of Evangelion. More of a Macross and Miyazaki guy, myself. But that doesn’t temper my enthusiasm for the upcoming Blu-ray edition of Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone. There are some reviews of the disc kicking around the net already and from all indications, this thing looks and sounds brilliant! We can all see for ourselves soon enough as this first entry in the series hits the streets in a couple of weeks, on March 9th. …Continued…
I’m not sure how I missed this one last month. A trailer for Henry Selick’s (Coraline) stop-motion animated James and Giant Peach has turned up on YouTube! Disney has yet to announce the title so all that’s known about the release is what you can see in the trailer. However, it seems as if the Blu-ray disc is being marketed to take advantage of the upcoming Tim Burton film, Alice in Wonderland (Burton was a producer on Peach). It seems likely that we’ll see James and the Giant Peach on Blu-ray in a release that coincides with Wonderland, sometime in June. …Continued…
Fox has plans to release a 45th Anniversary Edition of their classic film, The Sound of Music, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer! They haven’t revealed any details or a firm date yet but they have released this fantastic little teaser trailer which tells us to expect the disc around the holidays this year. Can’t wait! …Continued…
Here’s a great little promotional trailer for Studio Canal’s new line of deluxe Blu-ray releases. Those of you lamenting the loss of some of these titles from the Criterion Collection will want to pay close attention here. There are a few titles like Godard’s Breathless and Renais’ Last Year at Marienbad, currently still licensed to Criterion which will clearly be the next DVD and Blu-ray discs on the chopping block. …Continued…
That’s right, the sixth and final season of Lost has only just started airing on TV and we’ve already got a trailer for the Blu-ray boxed set! These are crazy, crazy times we live in here, folks. While final details have yet to be released by the studio, we’ve been given a preview of the special features likely to end up on the final discs. Take a look: …Continued…
It’s Saturday morning. I like to have a coffee (and pie, if it’s available) and watch a few cartoons before starting my day. Sadly, there’s not much on the old tube these days that holds my interest. Thank goodness for this collection of episodes from the first season of The Super Friends! …Continued…
Here’s a nice new trailer trumpeting the March release of both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on Blu-ray. As awesome as this news is, March is all about the Blu-ray release of Ponyo for me. Until I get my Miyazaki fix, it’s going to be kind of difficult to get excited about anything else! …Continued…
There has been a lot of talk around the internets about Disney’s Fantasia films having their Blu-ray release pushed back well into 2011. I’m not quite sure where all that nonsense originated but if you ask me, the trailer above is more than enough confirmation from the studio that we’re going to see the discs hitting the shops sometime this year! …Continued…
We’ve told you all you need to know about the upcoming Lord of the Rings Blu-ray boxed set. But just in case you need a video to sell you on the high-def upgrade, take a gander at Warner Home Video’s new Lord of the Rings Blu-ray trailer! …Continued…
Much like Warner Home Video did with Zach Snyder on the Watchmen: Director’s Cut Blu-ray disc, they’ve talked director McG into putting himself in front of the camera and talking shop, using comparative screens of the film itself, stills, animatics and more to lay bare every facet of Terminator Salvation and how it was created. …Continued…
What’s that? That little sneak peek in the video. A few moments of footage from the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows film on the Blu-ray trailer for the Half-Blood Prince? And am I to understand that we’re getting more on the disc when it hits shops on December 8th? This is too much anticipation for one guy to handle… …Continued…
Have you picked up your copy of Star Trek on Blu-ray yet? If the answer is no, allow me to introduce you to one of the multitude of fantastic special features on the disc - the gag reel. …Continued…
I’m not sure what makes me more uncomfortable here: the naked, portly man covered in sushi or the strange, inhuman laughter from La Toya Jackson as she’s pressed for information on her brother Michael. Urgh. I can see why they chopped this scene out the film, which reached theaters mere weeks after the singer’s June 25th death. Check the cut scene out for yourself. …Continued…
If you’re not watching HD Nation, we can’t be friends. No seriously. Don’t even try to talk to me. Especially about Blu-ray or TVs or … well, just don’t even talk to me. HD Nation is Patrick Norton and Robert Heron, both ex of Tech TV hosting a new show every Tuesday about our favourite topic - High-Def stuff! And this episode is a particular delight! Shot during Blu-Con 2.0 a couple of weeks ago, the guys managed to nail down interviews with some pretty influential folk as well as getting some footage of Martin Scorsese’s keynote Q&A … Continued…
We previously brought you a preview of Warner Home Video and DC Comics next direct to video, animated extravaganza - Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. Now we’ve got a look at the official trailer! Looks like a lot of fun. What do you think? …Continued…
Argh! This is where it’s at! Nevermind that I enjoyed the crap out of the live action G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. This animated adventure, the 58 minute G.I. Joe Resolute bests it in almost every way. Its only problems - it’s too damn short and it’s not on Blu-ray. Like I said, “Argh!” …Continued…
I’m sorry to disappoint you, skin fans. But this is the infamous Diora Baird (The Wedding Crashers, Young People Fucking) cut scene from the upcoming Star Trek Blu-ray disc. One line of dialogue. No boobs. I mean, the scene is actually pretty funny, when taken in context of the film. But I think when it was announced that she would be playing a green-skinned Orion Slave Girl in the film, a lot of you had been getting your hopes up for something more along the lines of Ms. Baird’s previous clothing-optional celluloid appearances. Sadly, this was not to be. But hey, that’s what sequels are for right? …Continued…
I won’t watch this scene. Not yet. I’m waiting for the Star Trek Blu-ray to show up, so I can bury myself in it for two full weeks. I want my experience to be fresh. That being said, I’m so tempted to check out this deleted scene of Romulan ship Captain, Nero being interrogated by the Klingons! This Star Trek Blu-ray is going to be sooooo good! I apologize in advance if my review of the disc is biased in any way. It simply can’t be helped… …Continued…
