Oliver Stone has re-cut his epic film Alexander. Yet again. On the surface this doesn’t seem like a release I’d be interested in but I’m going to admit I harbour a morbid curiosity about this project. I mean, I really enjoy aspects of the cuts I’ve seen but the film seems flawed at its core – off-the-mark casting and a truly oddball script – to the extent I’m not sure Stone will ever get what he’s looking for out of his footage. Ah well, what do I know. This new “Ultimate” cut could end up being a real revelation. And that’s exciting shit. I kinda can’t wait to watch this and see what the man has cooked up! Alexander: The Ultimate Cut is in stores June 3.
