Shout! Factory is preparing to deliver what appears to be a pretty killer 11-disc Bruce Lee boxed set in August. Seems pretty amazing on the surface (and between you and me, I think it’s going to be) but there are a handful of caveats with this release, the most important of which is that only 4 of those discs will be Blu-rays – the 4 which house the classic feature films The Big Boss, Fist Of Fury, Way Of The Dragon and Game Of Death.
Each film will also be present on DVD. The remaining 3 discs are all DVDs of bonus content including the recent doc I Am Bruce Lee, which is otherwise available on Blu-ray from Shout! Factory. I can understand why they’re packaged both SD and HD discs in one set, I’m just not sure why they couldn’t include the doc on Blu.
With this collection of films all debuting on domestic Blu-ray for the first time and the killer line up of special features though (original mono audio tracks, commentaries, outtakes, bloopers, new interviews and more!) I can easily deal with a couple of small disappointments in this otherwise awesome looking set.
