The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection coming in the fall

Well, it’s about time! Paramount has, at long last, announced the impending release of the entire 4-film Indiana Jones series on Blu-ray. According to the press release that hit this past week, we can expect the multi-disc set to hit shops sometime this fall, as many of us had suspected. Initially, we home-theatre enthusiasts expected to see the Indy Blu-ray box in the fall of 2011 to mark the 30th Anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark, but when Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars would arrive on Blu in that time period, it seemed like an obvious move for Paramount to make the set their big 100th Anniversary holiday release. And now that the announcement has finally come, we’re left to wait further to discover just what this “best of” collection of special features that the studio is touting might be. All we know for certain right now is that these Blu-ray discs will turn up before the end of the year and that they’ll include the four films and some extras, priced at $99.99 (pre-order for $74.99 on Amazon right now!) I’ll update you when the studio reveals more.

From the press release:

The man with the hat is back – and looking better than ever! The world’s favorite globe-trotting archaeologist is, at long last, embarking on his greatest adventure – when The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection comes to Blu-ray Disc from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Home Media Distribution. The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection will be excavated in the fall of 2012 and will include all four of Indy’s thrilling adventures, using the highest possible high definition picture and audio presentation – along with a “best of” collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes and a few new surprises.
