2011 is a pretty decent year for Brian De Palma fans. Not only will he be returning to form, directing the upcoming thriller The Key Man which begins filming in a few month’s time, but a couple of his finer, early films are available on Blu-ray as well! Okay, technically, only one is available right now. The Criterion Collection released a killer, bonus feature stacked edition of De Palma’s Blow Out back in April and now MGM and Fox are about to hit is up with the high-def debut of Dressed to Kill, out in stores September 6th (yes, that’s right film fans, the same day as Straw Dogs!) I’m sure it hasn’t been painstakingly restored but the MGM/Fox transfers of late have been pretty decent and usually (with a few exceptions) quite film-like, which is one of the most important aspects of any Blu-ray for me. I’ve got high hopes for this one!

“Kate Miller (Angie Dickinson, “Police Woman”) is a sexually-repressed housewife who seeks treatment from Dr. Robert Elliott (two-time Academy Award®-winner Michael Caine, Hannah and Her Sisters, The Cider House Rules).
