Holy crap! I never thought I would be typing these words – the 1987, animated G.I. Joe: The Movie is going to be released on Blu-ray! It’s true, folks. And I have proof!!
The HD Room has been following Shout! Factory DVD producer Brian Ward on Twitter and caught him tweeting “So the print’s in excellent condition. Looks like we’ll be doing GI JOE: THE MOVIE on Blu-ray” and “…the end credits for GI JOE: THE MOVIE finally came in. Gonna have a complete HD transfer!”.
I decided to check out his Twitter feed myself and discovered further that the Blu-ray disc won’t be a bare bones affair, “At an audio commentary recording session with Buzz Dixon on GI JOE: THE MOVIE. That’s right. I said it.” In addition, it seems Ward is hard at work brainstorming further special features for the upcoming disc release.
The HD Room posits that we’ll see G.I. Joe: The Movie on Blu-ray before the end of the year. Here’s hoping Shout! is able to serve us up the original version of the film, where Duke stays dead! COBRA LA LA LA LA!!
