[VIDEO] Blu-ray Wish List: Star Trek Animation Nerdgasm

I want to see this in high-def, on my giant front projection screen. I want J.J. Abrams to watch this and go, “Holy shit! This needs to be a bonus feature on our Star Trek Blu-ray disc” I think it can happen. If we all close our eyes and pray to Kahless the Unforgettable, our nerd wish (read: MY nerd wish) may just come true!

I hadn’t spotted this at all - I understand it’s been making the rounds for a few weeks - until the fine folks over at Topless Robot posted it up, further contributing to my current Trek obsession. This fantastic yet brief animated film was crafted to open up FedCon on April 30th in Germany. Outside of the music, the entire film was produced by one genius of a guy, Tobias Richter of The Light Works who, if I had my way would be working with Abrams on the next Trek film. This stuff looks spectactular, using CGI models of the new movie versions of the ships created from the “meager information that was available before the start of the new movie…”

From the Vimeo description:

“Since the convention was held one week before the official opening of the new Star Trek movie, I thought it would be a good idea to show off the two most prominent ships of the new movie - the Kelvin and the Enterprise. Since these two ships would have never been able to meet, this is just a “what if” variation. Because, as you know - in SciFi, anything is possible. “
