I’m a big fan of Darren Aronofsky. I’ve loved every single one of his films so far, despite any flaws they may exhibit. I think he’s a true auteur, working toward a masterpiece. His last film, The Fountain was a mess in a lot of ways. But really, what a glorious, visionary mess it was! I love it on Blu-ray. My only wish is that Warner had included the commentary track he had recorded for the film. What a shame. I’m glad Aronofsky made it available online, complete with visual cue to sync it to the film as it plays (The link on his site seems to have been buggered. Here’s the commentary as a 59.81 MB .rar file)
Requiem for a Dream is probably the film Aronofsky is known best for. It brought him a lot of acclaim at the time of release and it’s become somewhat of a cult film since. I’m really excited to see it on Blu-ray. Here’s hoping that Lionsgate does right by it!
