‘Monsters’ goes Blu in 2009
I’ve been an advocate of animation in high-def for quite some time now. In my opinion, both 2-D and 3-D animation transfers at 1080p make for the perfect demo material on Blu-ray. Ratatouille and Kung-Fu Panda never fail to impress on my home system while Sleeping Beauty remains a revelation. With that in mind, I’m thrilled to be able to report that Disney has announced the third in their Platinum Blu-ray line – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will bow in October, 2009 (Pinocchio is the second release, streeting March 10th in a 70th Anniversary edition). In addition, we’ve been told that two more Pixar films will hit Blu-ray through the year. Before the end of 2009 we’ll get our grubby mitts on high-def discs of A Bug’s Life and Monsters, Inc, both sure to be pristine transfers from digital sources like all Pixar films. If you can’t wait for the Lasseter‘s babies, grab yourself a copy of Disney’s 3-D animated Bolt on Blu-ray March 24th. It’s an incredibly fun little film that’s sure to look and sound superb, as almost all of their releases have.

Sweet! I didn’t know about the Monsters release. That will look sweet. Bolt ought to look great too.
