If the battle between Blu-ray and HD-DVD was a war, the partnership of China Hualu Panasonic have just thrown the winning snowball in a playground scrap between Blu-ray and CBHD (China Blue High-Definition), formerly known as CH-DVD (China High Definition DVD). Blu-ray.com is reporting that Hualu has released three players into the Chinese market:
“The Hualu BDP0801 ($292) and BDP0810 ($336) are both BonusView players, while the BDP0821 ($365) supports BD-Live. No other technical specs are known about the players at this time.”
With no major studios and zero penetration in the market, the release of these Blu-ray players should mark the end of CBHD. Oh, new stupid format, we hardly knew ye…
